L-Theanine is an amino acid found in green tea
that helps promote a
restful, relaxed state without diminishing daytime
alertness. It is free of the side effects commonly
associated with other relaxing agents. There are
scientific indications that L-Theanine also supports
healthy blood pressure levels that are already within
normal limits.
Theanine stimulates production of alpha waves in the
brain, producing feelings of relaxation and well-being
about 40 minutes after ingestion without shutting down
the brain. Readily crossing the blood/brain
barrier, increasing levels of GABA and dopamine,
theanine elevates the mood while improving learning and
concentration. It may reverse glutamate-induced
toxicity in brain cells and has been shown to help lower
blood pressure. Theanine reduces the negative
effects of caffeine. One study showed it to be
helpful in reducing symptoms of PMS, and recent studies
have shown it produces increases immune function.
Athletes use theanine at night with ZMA and GH releasers
for improved recovery.
Recommended Use: One capsule two or three times
daily. If additional support is desired, increase
to two capsules three times daily, or as directed by
a healthcare practitioner.
